Hey there, neighbor—
The backpacks are packed, the leaves are starting to turn, and things here at Pathfinder are buzzing right along. We’ve been powering up free Wi-Fi in Basalt, sponsoring community favorites like the JAS Labor Day Experience, testing new tools to make your home internet safer, and settling into our new digs at 201 Centennial.
We’re also doubling down on online safety: from our new blog guide to our family internet pledge and downloadable safety kit, we’re making sure your connection works as hard for your peace of mind as it does for your streaming queue.
As always, we’re keeping you connected—not just to fast, reliable service, but to the stories and people that make our mountain towns feel like home.
Here’s what’s in this issue:
Free public Wi-Fi now live in Basalt
- Meet Mark, the Pathfinder tech who rides Snowmass like he has nine lives
- Pathfinder sponsors the JAS Labor Day Experience
- Outdoor wireless mesh devices are here—expand coverage the smart way
- SmartBiz: the built-in business Wi-Fi that actually works
- A new blog, pledge, and safety kit to help keep your household secure
Let’s dive in.

Hometown Highlights: Our People & Our Places

Free Wi-Fi? Yep, That’s Us.
Downtown Basalt just got a little easier to love. Pathfinder is powering the new public Wi-Fi network in Lions Park, River Park, and the downtown core.
Check your email from a picnic table, stream a playlist at the Farmers Market, or let the kids download their next audiobook without eating up your data plan. And if you’re streaming in the park without paying in data—yep, that’s us.
We’ll be out there too—boots on, keeping the signal humming.
Look for “Town of Basalt WiFi” in your network list . . . and yes, it’s really free
Jazz Aspen Snowmass:
Music + Wi-Fi = Perfect Combo
Three days. Big names. Thousands of neighbors. And Pathfinder behind the scenes made sure your group texts, uploads, and livestreams kept up.
We were proud to sponsor the JAS Labor Day Experience this year—and even prouder to help keep the Valley’s biggest party connected.
We may not have made the stage, but we made sure the Wi-Fi didn’t drop the beat.

Employee Spotlight

Mark Richardson
Field Tech | Mountain Biker | Local Legend (Sort Of)
Mark Richardson has called the Roaring Fork Valley home his whole life—first in Willits, then in Glenwood. These days, you’ll find him climbing towers, running service calls, and helping Pathfinder expand coverage across the Valley.
A graduate of Northwest Lineman College, Mark brings both technical chops and local know-how to the job. “A lot of the people we serve are folks I grew up with,” he says. “It feels good to work for a company people can rely on.”
When he’s not troubleshooting internet service, Mark’s usually skiing Ajax, camping with his rescue pup Kona, or mountain biking Snowmass—“like I have nine lives,” as his friends put it. He also admits to gatekeeping a favorite fall camping spot in Crested Butte (and no, he’s not telling where).
And because he spends so much time off the beaten path, Mark relies on a Zoleo satellite communicator to check in with family when he’s out of range. Thankfully he’s never had to use it in an emergency, but it’s just one more tool that keeps him (and those around him) connected.

I ride Snowmass like I have nine lives.
Mark’s your guy.

Tech U: Smarter Networks, Inside and Out
Cover Every Corner with Outdoor Mesh
Sometimes your Wi-Fi just needs to go a little farther. That’s where our new outdoor wireless mesh devices come in—perfect for patios, garages, barns, workshops, or even the chicken coop.
Think of it as a booster that extends your signal where life actually happens, without a tangle of range extenders or DIY workarounds. Setup is simple, and support is local . . . because nobody wants to troubleshoot their router in the middle of a barbecue.
SmartBiz: Wi-Fi That Works as Hard as You Do
Running a small business in the Valley is tough enough without frozen Zoom calls or POS hiccups. SmartBiz by Pathfinder builds the essentials right into your business-grade router—so you stay online and in control.
- Four lanes, one box: Owner, Staff, POS, Guest—no cable spaghetti.
- Guest Wi-Fi that helps marketing: branded splash, email capture, usage reports.
- Automatic failover: keeps POS and calls up if the line drops.
- Unlimited data + 99.99% SLA: and support from people who know your street.
Safety Corner: Back-to-School, Back Online
Kids may be back in the classroom, but that doesn’t mean the internet takes a break. In mountain homes like ours, where schoolwork, streaming, and socializing all happen on the same connection, online safety is just as important as fast Wi-Fi.
As parents and neighbors ourselves, we know the online juggle all too well. That’s why we pulled together a three-part safety kit to make it easier for families to stay secure online:
- Quick blog guide — bite-sized tips you can use right away
- Family Internet Pledge — house rules everyone actually agrees on
- Printable Safety Kit — a once-a-month checklist for peace of mind
Because good internet should mean peace of mind, not extra stress.

Behind the Scenes:
New Space + Stronger Network

Pathfinder’s New Home at 201
We’ve officially moved into our new space at:
201 Centennial Street, Ste 114, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
Same team, same mission—just with a little more elbow room and a shorter walk to the hot springs. Stop by and say hi if you’re in the neighborhood—we promise the Wi-Fi’s great.
And yes, the coffee make made the trip intact.
A Data Center Built for Growth
Meanwhile, down in Florida, we just launched a brand-new data center. What does that mean for you? More resiliency, more reliability, and more room for the Valley to grow online.
And closer to home? More local upgrades are already on the calendar—we’ll share details soon.
Riddle of the Quarter
Last Quarter’s Riddle:
I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind. What am I?
An echo!
Shoutout to everyone who guessed it —and to the person who wrote in “my teenager after curfew,” which… honestly works, too.
This Quarter’s Riddle:
I’m light as a feather but can hold up a truck.
You can’t see me, but I’m always working—day and night, rain or shine. What am I?
We’ll reveal the answer—and our favorite wrong guess—in next quarter’s newsletter.

Until Next Time, Neighbor
That’s a wrap on your Q3 update. From free Wi-Fi in Basalt to community events like JAS, we’re proud to keep the Valley connected.
As always, it’s about more than internet—it’s about the people, places, and stories that make this place home.
